What you need to know

(please read to the end)


Please wear appropriate clothing, this can include Jeans, however we recommend if you do wear jeans that you wear a longer sock or your legs will get pinched from the stirrup leathers if riding English. 

We do not advise riding in shorts if you value the skin on your thighs!

Dress accordingly to the weather, we recommend:

  • Water proof jacket

  • Waterproof trousers

  • Spare change of clothes 

  • Something warm (layer up)

  • Gloves

  • Sunscreen


We are more than happy for people to bring their own riding gear! 

If you're bringing your own hat we will do a hat check to ensure it meets current safety standards and fits well enough. 

We do have a selection of current standard riding hats available and a small selection of boots. 

We ask that you wear a shoe or boot with a small heel, not too wide, so that your able to get your foot in the stirrups. 

Gents please note: A dress shoe is better than a hiking boot or a trainer.  

We will not permit riding in: 

  • Crocs

  • Flipflops

  • Sandals

  • Stiletto heels

  • Loose fitting clothing for example a long scarf


YARD RULES:

  • Please wait at the gate for your own safety until a member of staff approaches you.

  •  If However you do not see anyone about, firstly we ask you raise your voice and ask "Hello, is there anyone there?"

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Do not drive into the yard! There is parking facilities at both sides of the yard

  • DOGS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE YARD - feel free to tie them up by the gate (we have killer cats)

  • Treat all staff equally and we do not tolerate abuse.

  • Be aware of your surroundings. This is a commercial business.


All this information is to safeguard you, in addition to this, should you find yourself needing to use the toilet facility and you can not see anyone around, you have our full permission to go ahead and use it!

All we ask is you go directly to the toilet. DO NOT attempt to go near any of the horses.

HOW TO TREAT THE HORSES CODE OF CONDUCT:


  • Treat the horse with respect 

  • Be Gentle

  • Acknowledge that they are sentient beings ( They can experience feelings and have cognitive abilities)

  •  Acknowledge they're live animals, not a tool or machine.

  •  Acknowledge that they are entitled to behave like horses. 

  • Please follow instruction regarding the horses 

  • Remember these horses do not know you on a personal level. To them you are a stranger.
